We start with a free 30-minute consultation — no paperwork, no pressure. I want to understand your business and where things currently stand. If it's a good fit, I'll walk you through what I'd recommend and what working together looks like. From there, onboarding typically takes one to two weeks depending on what we're picking up from your current bookkeeper or accounting system. I'll handle the transition so it's as smooth as possible.

Yes. Ultaxa serves small businesses across Northern California, and most of that work is done remotely. We use secure file sharing, video calls when needed, and accounting software that makes it easy to collaborate without being in the same room. You don't need to be local to get the same level of service.

Most bookkeeping clients are on a monthly engagement. I reconcile your accounts, categorize transactions, and deliver a clean set of financials at the end of each month. You get a clear picture of where your money went without having to dig through statements yourself. I also flag anything unusual so nothing catches you off guard.

Yes. Payroll is one of the services where getting it wrong has real consequences — for your employees and for your compliance. I handle all of it: processing pay, calculating and remitting payroll taxes, filing required reports, and managing the records. You tell me when someone is hired, let me know about changes, and I take care of the rest.

Year-round. That's one of the main reasons people switch to working with me after leaving a larger firm. A lot of clients come to me specifically because their previous accountant was only reachable between January and April. I stay connected with my clients throughout the year — because that's how good planning actually works.

I'm comfortable with QuickBooks (desktop and online), Xero, Sage, and several other platforms. If you're already using something, I'll work with it. If your software isn't a good fit for your business — or if you're starting from scratch — I can help you evaluate options and get set up correctly. Accounting software consulting is one of the things I offer that most accountants don't.

It depends on where you are. If you're unhappy with your current software, I'll review how you're using it and determine whether the problem is the tool or the setup. Sometimes the right software is already in place but it's not configured for the business. If you need to switch, I'll help you choose the right platform, migrate your data, and make sure everything is set up correctly before we hand it back to you.

As often as makes sense for your business. Monthly bookkeeping clients typically hear from me once a month when their financials are ready, plus whenever something comes up that warrants a conversation. Tax clients hear from me before filing deadlines and throughout the year if planning opportunities arise. I don't believe in radio silence — if I see something, I say something.
